Job summary

SAFY seeks a full-time Licensing Specialist for our Las Vegas division in Nevada. You will be responsible for licensing and retaining quality foster homes and/or adoptive parents, ensuring compliance with local regulations and SAFY policies.

You will develop and train prospective foster parents, conduct home visits, create home studies, and maintain accurate records. Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills are essential, with a willingness to work nontraditional hours.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in field of social work, counseling, psychology, sociology, child and family studies, etc.
• Two years of relevant work experience in human services or child welfare.
• Comfortable with public speaking and facilitation of group training.
• Problem solving, organizational skills, ability to multi-task, excellent communication skills (oral and written), conflict resolution.
• Current certification in First Aid/ CPR, and de-escalation training.
• Microsoft Office products, Electronic Health Records, other computer software as required.
• Must have a valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record and auto insurance coverage to meet travel requirements; may require transporting youth if needed.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for knowledge and implementation of all foster parent onboarding and retention rules, regulations, and organizational policies.
• Provide development and training of prospective foster parents in understanding needs of the youth and their home environment; provide ongoing training and support to licensed foster homes.
• Establish and maintain relationships with youth, foster parents, community organizations, referring agencies, and other SAFY stakeholders.
• Complete home visits with each potential family to answer questions, assess family for ability to foster, provide recommendations for needed training in growth areas and assist in the licensing process.
• Develop comprehensive home study for each family in accordance with all local regulatory and contractual requirements.
• Provide all required information and assist families in completing paperwork; maintain and update all records.
• Complete annual evaluations and ensure documentation and compliance for re-certification.
• Collaborate with internal partners to implement recruitment, retention, and foster parent support strategies.
• Support foster parents with information on education, meetings, support groups, retention activities and one-on-one discussions.
• Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
