Job summary

SAFY of America is seeking a Full Time Engagement & Licensing Specialist in the Birmingham division, Alabama. You will recruit, license, engage and retain foster parents, coordinating pre-service training and the licensure process, while collaborating with community partners and staff.

The role requires a bachelor’s in social work or a related field, plus relevant experience and strong communication skills; state regulations and SAFY policies guide the process.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social work or a human services field.
• LBSW, LGSW/LMSW; LCSW, LSW preferred.
• Two years of relevant experience in client and/or community engagement.
• Excellent communication skills (oral and written) and comfort with public speaking and facilitating groups.
• Ability to operate a computer with Microsoft Office, other software, agency databases and online systems.
• Acceptable driving record and auto insurance coverage to meet travel requirements.
• Previous experience in child welfare.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement ongoing recruitment activities to attract foster/ respite parents.
• Follow up with prospective foster parents through phone, email, and in person contact.
• Liaise with community organizations and attend events to build relationships.
• Coordinate and participate in speaking engagements and recruitment opportunities.
• Manage budget within guidelines.
• Monitor competitors’ recruitment and advertising activities.
• Perform home studies and ensure licensing process within 90 days.
• Organize and schedule Pre-service training for foster/adoptive parents.
• Conduct training sessions and ensure required hours meet policies and state regulations.
• Submit reports necessary for corrective action as needed.
