Job summary

The State of Vermont’s Department for Children & Families, Family Services Division, Burlington Office, seeks a Resource Coordinator to support foster care placement assessments and recruit foster parents to meet local needs.

The role involves coordinating with family service workers, providing foster/kinship orientation, and offering ongoing support to licensed foster families, including home visits and regular communications to ensure culturally respectful care.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree AND one year of human services work or community resource development.
  • One year or more of graduate credits in a Master’s or Doctorate program related to social work, counseling, psychology, or public administration.
  • Four years of child welfare experience in recruiting, training, and retaining foster families.

Responsibilities

  • Support district office assessment of foster care placement and respite resources.
  • Recruit foster parents in response to local needs.
  • Coordinate with family service worker to identify and support relatives and natural supports as placement resources.
  • Provide foster/kinship care orientation and ongoing support for licensed foster parents.
  • Facilitate home visiting and regular communications with foster families.
  • Act as district liaison to local foster parent association and ensure timely data entry for reimbursements.

Education

Bachelor's degree and 1 year of human services work or community resource development
Graduate credits in social work, counseling, psychology, or public administration
4 years of child welfare experience (recruiting, training and retaining foster families)
