Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree AND one year of human services work or community resource development.
  • One year or more of graduate credits in a Master’s or Doctorate program related to social work, counseling, psychology, or public administration.
  • Four years of child welfare experience in recruiting, training, and retaining foster families.

Responsibilities

The Department for Children & Families' Family Services Division Burlington Office is seeking a Resource Coordinator to join our team of dedicated staff in supporting children, families, and communities. Our goal is to promote safety, permanency, wellbeing, and law abidance for children in need. The Burlington District is working to engage in active efforts to increase foster/kinship care providers and resources that match the demographic of children and families in our community. The ideal candidate would have experience working with New Americans, Refugees, and those who have immigrated here; someone who is committed to ensuring that the work of the division is done from a place of respecting racial, ethnic, and cultural differences while also holding child safety and well-being as the beacon to the ongoing cross-cultural work that happens in this District.


Your role as a Resource Coordinator would support district office assessment of foster care placement and respite resources and recruiting foster parents in response to local needs. Resource coordinators work with the family service worker to ensure relatives and natural supports are identified, assessed, and appropriately supported as placement resources for children and youth. This role also provides foster/kinship care orientation. Provides on-going support for licensed foster parents to include home visiting and regular communications. This includes at times supporting communications between FSW's and Foster Parents. Acts as a district liaison to local foster parent association; Ensures accurate and timely entry of data to support reimbursements of expenses; stipends and contracts. Ensures foster families respect the cultural, ethnic, and spiritual values of the families we serve. Follows the Diligent Recruitment (DR) process for recruiting, retaining, and supporting kin and foster families as well as tracking recruitment data.

In accordance with AHS Policy 4.02, Hiring Standards, Vermont and/or national criminal record checks, as well as DMV and adult and child abuse registry checks, as appropriate to the position under recruitment, will be conducted on candidates, with the exception of those who are current classified state employees seeking transfer, promotion or demotion into an AHS classified position or are persons exercising re-employment (RIF) rights.

Duties performed in both field and office settings. Incumbents may encounter strong differences of opinion and emotional reactions which must be dealt with in a firm, objective and helpful manner and with tact and sensitivity. Private means of transportation must be available for needed travel. Some work outside of normal office hours may be required.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree AND one (1) year of human services work or community resource development.

OR

One (1) year or more of graduate credits in a Master’s or Doctorate program related to social work, counseling, psychology, or public administration.

OR

Four (4) years of child welfare experience in the role of recruiting, training and retaining foster families.
