Job summary

SAFY in Birmingham, AL, is seeking a Full Time Engagement & Licensing Specialist to recruit, license, engage, and retain foster parents. The role supports the Birmingham division, focusing on community engagement, training coordination, and timely licensing of families.

The ideal candidate has a social work/human services degree, relevant engagement experience, strong communication and facilitation skills, and a willingness to travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social work or a human services field.
• LBSW, LGSW/LMSW; LCSW, LSW preferred
• Two years of relevant experience in client and/or community engagement.
• Excellent communication skills (oral and written) with public speaking and group facilitation.
• Ability to operate a computer with MS Office, agency databases and online systems.
• Acceptable driving record and auto insurance coverage to meet travel requirements.
• Previous experience in child welfare.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, license, engage and retain foster parents.
• Develop ongoing recruitment activities using diverse tactics.
• Follow up with prospective foster parents via phone, email, in person, and mail.
• Represent SAFY at community events and meetings; build relationships with stakeholders.
• Coordinate speaking engagements and recruitment opportunities.
• Manage budgets and monitor competitors’ activities.
• Complete licensing processes for families within 90 days.
• Maintain timely data entry and case notes in tracking systems.
