Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Human Services or related field from an accredited university.
• Two years of experience with population served.
• Valid driver's license and ability to operate an agency vehicle.
• Ability to manage, plan, organize, implement, monitor and maintain agency programs.
• Complies with accreditation standards and NC licensing requirements.

Responsibilities

• Prepares for and participates in regular supervisory conferences.
• Participates in 90-day and annual staff performance evaluations.
• Keeps supervisor informed on current status of total work responsibilities.
• Functions within the guidelines of the job description and the Program of Intentionalized Services.
• Represents the agency’s philosophy, purpose, and programs to groups, individuals, and referral agencies in a professional and objective manner.
• Demonstrates knowledge of and ability to work as a member of the foster home team.
• Has knowledge of and supports the roles of other team members.
• Respects the right of the team to be involved with the child and his/her family.
• Shares information with team members for foster home and Treatment Team decisions.
• Supports the team in providing daily care to meet the needs of children and maintaining a positive environment.
• Participates in ongoing monitoring of team functioning and in Family Systems Trainings.
• Conducts foster parent training and provides leadership in creating a therapeutic milieu.
• Works closely with the Division of Social Services Social Worker.
• Respects diversity of staff and children within BCH.
• Participates in the agency’s PQI program as needed.
• Facilitates FAC, admission, intake, transfer, and discharge conferences.
• Provides leadership in child and family conferences and coordinates the Plan of Service.
• Recruits and licenses foster families and provides required training.
• Provides support and problem-solving to complement family work and therapy.
• Arranges family contacts, scheduling of appointments, and reporting of events.
• Establishes relationships with resources and helps secure community resources.
• Conducts psycho-educational groups and supports medical and other appointments for youth.
• Sets the tone for BCH’s Family Systems approach.
• Conducts routine home visits to the foster home.
• Recruits foster families and conducts home license studies.
• Submits required paperwork for foster home licensing and renewals.
• Orients and trains new foster parents.
• Provides ongoing training to meet state and accreditation requirements.
• Is available to foster parents for issues and crises.
• Assists foster parents with securing community resources.
• Keeps client files and documentation current.
• Continually increases knowledge and skills in foster care.
• Applies professional knowledge to responsibilities.
• Demonstrates knowledge of current trends in services to families and children.
• Develops external resources pool as needed.
• Demonstrates working knowledge in family systems.
• Participates in Family Systems Trainings.
