Garrett & Fields is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to join our client’s team in Manhattan. You will act as a fast-moving generalist bridging the gap between platform capabilities and frontier AI lab customer needs, handling ad hoc requests, shaping data, building dashboards, and implementing RL tasks under tight timelines.

The role targets a hands-on software engineer with 2-5 years of full-stack experience, strong TypeScript and Python skills, and a track record of shipping production

Qualifications

• 2-5 years of experience in full-stack software engineering in fast-paced environments.
• Strong TypeScript and Python skills; full-stack generalist (backend services, data pipelines, and frontend interfaces).
• Proven ability to ship production software at a fast-paced, high-growth VC-backed company.

Responsibilities

• Shape data created by human experts to meet specific requirements of frontier AI lab customers.
• Build quick plugins, features, or temporary improvements to existing systems for data collection.
• Handcraft reinforcement learning task samples tailored to customer needs.
• Spin up customer-facing interfaces like dashboards and portals on short timelines.
• Identify when one-off custom builds should be generalized into the core platform.
