Job summary

Ikuto is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to embed with portfolio companies, identify high-leverage bottlenecks, and ship production‑grade agentic software that compounds value across the portfolio.

You’ll own end‑to‑end delivery across full‑stack tech (TypeScript, Python, React, SQL), ship integrations and UI surfaces, and lead technical efforts with portfolio operators. Hybrid work in SF, NY, or Toronto with domestic travel.

Qualifications

• 3–6 years of full-stack or forward-deployed engineering experience.
• Proficient in TypeScript, Python, React, and SQL.
• Experience shipping production AI/LLM systems with evals and autonomy gating.
• Strong business sense to translate bottlenecks into technical solutions.
• Willing to travel domestically; hybrid work in NY/SF/Toronto.

• Embed & Discover: work with portfolio leadership to identify workflow opportunities for AI automation.
• Ship Production Systems: build full-stack integrations, prompts, evals, and UI surfaces for live deployments.

Compensation: $185,000 – $240,000 Base + Competitive Equity + Visa/Relocation Support

About the Opportunity

We are recruiting for a high-growth, $250M Series B software holding company backed by top-tier Silicon Valley venture firms and premier technology founders. Unlike traditional investment firms, this team acquires, builds, and scales vertical market software businesses for the long term.

They are looking for an entrepreneurial Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) to embed directly with portfolio companies (portcos), identify high-leverage operational bottlenecks, and ship live, production-grade agentic software. This is a Palantir-style deployment role—you won't be building pitch decks or quick prototypes; you will own running systems end-to-end that compound value across an entire portfolio.

What You’ll Do

• Embed & Discover: Work closely with portfolio leadership to understand their operational models and identify key workflow opportunities for AI automation.
• Ship Production Systems: Build full-stack integrations, prompts, evals, and UI surfaces to deploy live agentic loops directly into company operations.
• Operate & Scale: Post-launch, tune autonomy tiers, monitor system performance, and smoothly transition stable workflows to internal ops teams.
• Serve as Technical Lead: Act as the technical face of the platform to non-technical operators and executives, establishing trust through execution.
• Codify Playbooks: Bring patterns back to HQ to build reusable platform playbooks that accelerate future deployments.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience: 3–6 years of experience in full-stack engineering, product engineering, or forward-deployed roles. (High-potential new graduates with direct FDE or LLM deployment experience are also welcome to apply).
• Full-Stack Technical Depth: Proficiency across TypeScript/Python, React, and SQL—you must be comfortable owning end-to-end delivery solo.
• Production LLM/Agentic Systems: Hands-on experience shipping real AI systems featuring evals, autonomy gating, and outcome tracking (not just demos).
• Operator Instincts: Ability to read a P&L, understand business drivers, and translate non-technical operational bottlenecks into technical solutions.
• Travel & Work Setup: Based in (or open to relocating to) New York, San Francisco, or Toronto, with a hybrid setup (3–4 days in-office) and occasional domestic travel to portfolio sites.
