Job summary

Databricks is seeking Forward Deployed Engineers to work with customers to build and productionize data and AI solutions on the Databricks platform. You will own architecture, lead design decisions, and deliver end-to-end systems across data engineering, AI, and application development.

This hands-on, customer-facing role requires engineering excellence, adaptability, and strong collaboration with engineering, product, and customer teams to drive measurable outcomes. Travel up to 20% is expected.

Qualifications

• 5+ years experience in data engineering, data platforms & analytics, or software engineering.
• Comfortable writing code in Python, Scala, or JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Working knowledge of two or more Cloud ecosystems (AWS, Azure, GCP) with expertise in at least one.
• Deep experience with distributed computing with Apache Spark and knowledge of Spark runtime internals.
• Familiarity with CI/CD for production deployments.
• Working knowledge of MLOps, ML/AI models and AI APIs.
• Design and deployment of performant production end-to-end data architectures and applications.
• Experience with technical project delivery—managing scope, timelines and measurable outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Lead production-grade data and AI projects and build reference architectures.
• Guide strategic customers through end-to-end design, build and deployment of data and AI solutions.
• Bootstrap or implement customer projects to promote adoption of Databricks.
• Own architecture ensuring secure, scalable solutions.
• Collaborate with engineering, PM, and customer teams to deliver engagements.
• Provide feedback to product and support to resolve issues.
• Embed with customer teams and understand challenges to deliver impact.
• Develop accelerators and best practices to scale impact across accounts.
