Job summary

OpenAI’s Forward Deployed Engineering team partners with customers to turn research breakthroughs into production AI systems. This role embeds with legal teams to identify first-use cases, rapidly prototype, and prove measurable value, delivering production adoption and scalable patterns across accounts.

Based in San Francisco or New York City, the role uses a hybrid model with relocation assistance and travel up to 50%.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software/ML engineering or deployment with customer-facing ownership.
• Experience with legal tech or compliance-heavy workflows is helpful.
• Proven ability to ship end-to-end AI or data-driven systems with production adoption.

Responsibilities

• Embed with customers to identify high-value opportunities and initial use cases.
• Build full-stack systems delivering customer value.
• Guide adoption and translate feedback to product.
• Contribute code when needed and create reusable tools or playbooks.
• Share field feedback with Research and Product.
• Balance scope, speed, and quality to protect delivery.
