Job summary

Avidity Biosciences, Inc. in San Diego, CA, seeks a Scientist I in the Analytical Development & Formulation group to advance clinical and commercial formulation development of AOC products.

The role emphasizes analytical and biophysical characterization, cross-functional collaboration, and development support for mAb and ADC assets. The position is hybrid with remote work, reporting to the Principal Scientist.

Qualifications

• PhD in chemistry, biology, pharmaceutical sciences, or related field; master’s or bachelor’s with 5–10 years experience considered.
• Deep understanding of protein stability and effects of solvent conditions on stability.
• Hands-on with analytical methods including SEC, IEX, RP-HPLC, CE-SDS, cIEF and subvisible particle analysis.
• Experience with biophysical methods to measure conformational and colloidal stability of protein biologics.
• Ability to design, implement and analyze formulation studies using DOE and JMP or similar.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
• Familiarity with MS, lyophilization, ADCs, and working with CMOs/CROs is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Set up and conduct formulation stability studies for mAb and AOC liquid and lyophilized dosage forms.
• Conduct in-use compatibility studies for IV and subcutaneous routes.
• Perform developability assessments for early-stage protein biologics using analytical/biophysical methods.
• Prepare buffers, manage lab inventory and supplies.
• Work with vendors for instrument maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Support drug substance/product process development activities as needed.
• Train lab personnel on instrumentation and methods; support cross-functional teams.
