Job summary

Avidity Biosciences is seeking an Associate Scientist I for the Analytical Development & Formulation group in San Diego, CA. The role focuses on clinical and commercial formulation development of AOC drug products, with collaboration across biology and chemistry, and external CROs.

The candidate will perform analytical characterization and developability assessments, supporting IV and subcutaneous formulations and ensuring robust documentation and data presentation to the TD&O team.

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor’s degree (or master’s) in chemistry, biology, pharmaceutical sciences, or related field with 5+ years industrial experience
• Strong understanding of protein stability, particularly for mAb degradation
• Experience in formulation development, in-use compatibility studies, and analytical method development

Responsibilities

• Set up and conduct formulation stability studies for mAb and AOC dosage forms
• Perform developability assessments of early-stage protein biologics
• Manage buffers, inventory, and instrument maintenance with vendors
• Conduct in-use compatibility studies for IV and subcutaneous administration
• Support process development for drug substance/product
• Provide lab support for analytical characterization
• Specify and install formulation-related instrumentation
• Maintain electronic lab notebook and write technical reports
• Present data at team and cross-functional meetings
