Job summary

Seaport Steel Company in Airway Heights, WA is seeking a forklift operator to move and position steel loads within the yard and facility. You will operate a forklift to lift, move and place loads with safety and efficiency.

Responsibilities include unloading rail cars and trailers, loading trailers, inspecting equipment, and maintaining a clean work area. This is a full-time evening shift with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
• Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers.
• Ability to print and speak simple sentences.

Responsibilities

• Unload material from rail cars and trailers and store them within designated areas based on material.
• Load material to trailers based on work order instructions.
• Inspect the forklift before using it.
• Clean work area daily: Cut wood from railcars and store it in the designated work area.

Location: Airway Heights, WA
Pay: $21.45 – $26.81 per hour
Job Type: Full-Time

Most employees start between $21.45 and $24.13. The higher end of the range, $26.81, is reserved for candidates with exceptional experience or qualifications.

Shift: Mon-Fri, 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM

Benefits: eligible after 30 days month following employment

Education/Experience

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Ability to print and speak simple sentences.

Math Ability

• Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s.
• Ability to perform these operations using weight measurement.

Reasoning Ability

• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
• Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
