Job summary

Kaizen Lab Inc. is seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Forklift Operator to join our steel operations team. You will handle loading, unloading, and moving steel products—beams, plate, coil, pipe—within the yard, warehouse, or production area, with strict adherence to safety procedures.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven forklift operation experience, preferably in steel industry or other heavy industrial environments.
  • Current forklift certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in hot, cold, and outdoor environments.
  • Strong attention to safety and situational awareness.
  • Ability to read measurements and follow layout or stacking requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Operate forklifts (sit-down, stand-up, or specialty forklifts) to handle and transport steel materials.
  • Load and unload steel products from trucks, railcars, and storage racks.
  • Secure loads using chains, straps, or other approved methods to prevent shifting or damage.
  • Inspect the forklift before each shift, checking brakes, steering, lift mechanisms, and safety devices.
  • Read and interpret work orders, shipping manifests, and inventory instructions.
  • Stage and organize materials in designated areas for production or shipment.
  • Communicate with team members and spotters to ensure safe movements in tight or high-traffic areas.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in work areas to ensure safe forklift operation.
  • Report any damage to materials, equipment, or facilities immediately to a supervisor.
  • Follow all OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and PPE requirements.

Safety Emphasis

Steel handlingrequires extreme attention to safety. The Forklift Operator must continuouslyoperate at safe speeds, maintain awareness of the surroundings, and communicateclearly with ground personnel to avoid accidents.
