Job summary

SEAPORT STEEL COMPANY in Airway Heights, WA is seeking a Full-Time Crane Operator. The role involves operating traveling or stationary overhead cranes to lift and position steel loads within the plant, while maintaining safety standards and equipment.

The ideal candidate will hold a high school diploma or GED, possess crane operation certification, and demonstrate the ability to read and follow instructions, with a focus on safe hoisting practices.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must be certified to operate crane equipment used in moving materials.
• Ability to read simple instructions and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Operate traveling or stationary overhead crane (ground controlled) to lift, move, and position loads of steel within the production facility.
• Observe load hookups and determine safety of the load before lifting.
• Regulate crane speed and hoist movement using controls.
• Use appropriate lifting attachments (hook, sling, bucket) as needed.
• Clean and maintain crane and hoisting mechanism.
• Inspect crane for defects and report malfunctions.
• Assist with training newly hired Material Handlers I.

Location: Airway Heights, WA

Pay: $20.00 - $28.25 per hour

Job Type: Full-Time

Most employees start between $20.00 and $24.13. The higher end of the range, $28.25, is reserved for candidates with exceptional experience or qualifications.

Shift: Mon-Fri, 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Actively participate in Seaport Steel's Safety Program.
• Observes load hookup and determine the safety of the load.
• Manipulates or depresses crane control buttons, to regulate the speed and direction of crane and hoist movement.
• Uses hoisting attachments such as hook, sling, or bucket as load requires.
• Cleans and maintains a crane and hoisting mechanism.
• Inspects crane for defective parts and notifies supervisor of defects or malfunctions.
• Assist with training newly hired Material Handlers I

Education/Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certificates

Certified to Operator all equipment related to moving material within the warehouse.

Language Ability

• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, and other employees of the organization.

Math Ability
