Job summary

Seaport Steel Company in Airway Heights, WA is seeking a reliable overhead crane operator to lift and move steel loads within the production facility. The role emphasizes safety, equipment operation, and adherence to procedures.

Responsibilities include crane operation, inspection and maintenance, and assisting with training of new Material Handler I. Requires a HS diploma or GED, plus a certificate to operate warehouse equipment and basic reading, math, and communication skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED, or 1–3 months related experience.
• Certified to operate all equipment related to moving material in the warehouse.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to present information to customers and coworkers.
• Basic math including rate, ratio and percent.
• Reasoning: follow instructions; handle a few concrete variables.

Responsibilities

• Observe load hookup and determine the safety of the load.
• Operate crane controls to regulate speed and direction of movement.
• Use hoisting attachments such as hook, sling, or bucket as needed.
• Clean and maintain crane and hoisting mechanism.
• Inspect crane for defects and report issues to supervisor.
• Assist with training newly hired Material Handler I.

Location: Airway Heights, WA

Pay: $20.00 – $28.25 per hour

Job Type: Full-Time

Most employees start between $20.00 and $24.13. The higher end of the range, $28.25, is reserved for candidates with exceptional experience or qualifications.

Summary: Operates traveling or stationary overhead crane (ground controlled) to lift, move, and position steel loads within the production facility.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Observe load hookup and determine the safety of the load.
• Manipulates or depresses crane control buttons, to regulate the speed and direction of crane and hoist movement.
• Uses hoisting attachments such as hook, sling, or bucket as load requires.
• Cleans and maintains a crane and hoisting mechanism.
• Inspects crane for defective parts and notifies supervisor of defects or malfunctions.
• Assist with training newly hired Material Handler I

Education/Experience
