Job summary

Forward Air Corp. is seeking an experienced Forklift Operator to safely load, unload, stage, scan, and move freight in a multimodal terminal environment. This role emphasizes accuracy, safety, and documentation integrity for cargo in a busy warehouse setting.

The schedule is Monday to Friday, 10 AM to 4 PM, with compensation of $19.00–$20.00 per hour. Ideal candidates have 3+ years of dock/warehouse experience and a valid forklift certification.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• Valid forklift certification/licensure required.
• 3+ years of dock or warehouse experience required.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing.
• Basic arithmetic to verify counts, quantities and weights.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight using sit-down/stand-up forklifts and other MHE.
• Move, stage, sort, and position freight between docks and designated areas.
• Pick, pack, and prepare items for shipping and delivery.
• Assist drivers with loading/unloading following safety procedures.
• Label, scan, and track freight to ensure accuracy and documentation integrity.
• Identify damaged freight and report safety or equipment issues.
• Maintain a clean, safe, organized dock environment.
• Learn equipment operation and safety procedures; support dock productivity.
• Work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
• Serve as subject-matter expert on dock operations and procedures.
• Train and mentor other Material Handlers.
