Job summary

Forward Air Corporation in Louisville, KY is seeking a Forklift Operator to safely load, unload, stage, and move freight in a busy dock environment. You will operate sit-down/stand-up forklifts and other MHE, and maintain accurate freight documentation.

This onsite role emphasizes safety, teamwork, and reliability, with a schedule Monday–Friday 2pm–8pm and a strong emphasis on OSHA compliance. Certification and warehouse experience are required, with opportunities to mentor newer staff.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED/equivalent preferred but not required.
• Valid forklift certification/licensure (or ability to obtain before operating equipment) required.
• 3+ years of dock or warehouse experience required.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing.
• Ability to recognize numbers, labels, barcodes, and freight markings accurately, and to perform basic arithmetic.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight using sit-down/stand-up forklifts and other MHE.
• Move, stage, sort, and position freight between dock doors, trailers, and designated areas.
• Pick, pack, and prepare items for shipping and delivery.
• Assist drivers with loading/unloading following safety procedures.
• Label, scan, and track freight using handheld devices and systems.
