Job summary

Towlift, Inc. is seeking an Experienced Mechanic - Field Service to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial vehicles at customer sites in Brooklyn Heights, OH.

You will perform on-site repairs, conduct routine maintenance, and ensure safety paperwork is completed accurately. Qualified candidates have 3+ years of diesel/field service experience, hydraulics and diagnostics skills, a valid license, and the ability to work independently while delivering excellent customer service.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in a diesel mechanic or service technician role.
  • Experience with hydraulics and computer diagnostics; able to interpret schematic diagrams.
  • Valid Driver’s License and driving record acceptable to insurance company.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail, project management, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with internal and external customers.
  • Adhere to company’s core values.
  • Pre-employment drug screening required.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot customer breakdowns; provide proper repairs to minimize downtime and prepare on-site estimates.
  • Set up and use basic metalworking tools to fabricate/repair parts.
  • Perform routine maintenance and replace defective parts; lubricate and repair electrical equipment.
  • Review repairs and maintenance results with customers; provide on-site quotes and service details.
  • Use the Mobile Service app to close jobs, obtain signatures, and mark tasks complete.
  • Provide daily status updates to dispatchers and account managers.

Experienced Mechanic - Field Service
Branch Location: Brooklyn Heights, Ohio
Compensation: Based on experience level + $2,000 signing bonus
Job Summary

Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial vehicles, including forklifts, railcar movers, container handlers, and terminal tractors. Perform routine maintenance and breakdown repair work in the field at customer sites. Prioritize work orders, comply with safety incident reporting, and ensure all paperwork is submitted timely and accurately. Provide excellent customer service and maintain company-provided assets, including all work tools and vans.

Essential Functions
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot customer breakdowns; provide proper repairs to minimize equipment downtime and initiate estimates for on-site repairs.
  • Set up and operate lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.
  • Perform routine scheduled maintenance, including standard inspections, repair and replace defective parts, lubricate parts, and repair electrical equipment.
  • Inspect used parts to determine changes in factory specifications.
  • Review repair work and scheduled maintenance results with customers, communicating any potential issues. Responsible for field quoting and communicating services to customers.
  • Utilize the Mobile Service application to close the day, fill out work orders, obtain customer signatures, finalize jobs, and mark them as complete.
  • Provide daily status updates to the dispatchers and review any customer issues or concerns with the dispatcher and account manager.
Position Qualifications
EDUCATION
  • High School Diploma or equivalent. Vocational or technical certification preferred.
Requirements
  • 3+ years of experience in a diesel mechanic or service technician role.
  • Previous experience with hydraulics and computer diagnostics. Ability to interpret and apply schematic diagrams.
  • Valid Driver’s License and driving record acceptable to insurance company.
  • Ability to work independently and to effectively prioritize demands and execute tasks.
  • Strong attention to detail, project management, and organizational skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey information to internal and external customers in a clear and concise manner.
