Job summary

Smurfit Westrock Company in Hicksville, NY is seeking a warehouse associate to stage materials, move work in process, segregate waste, and support outbound shipments. You will operate basic warehouse equipment, including forklift if licensed, perform data entry, and ensure accurate documentation for shipments while keeping work areas clean and safe.

The role requires teamwork, reliable attendance, willingness to work overtime during busy periods, the ability to learn procedures, and candidates

Qualifications

• Prior warehouse experience preferred.
• Forklift license required or able to obtain.
• Ability to learn safety rules and operating policies.
• Basic data entry and arithmetic proficiency.
• Ability to work well in a team and communicate effectively.
• Willingness to work overtime when needed and maintain good attendance.

Responsibilities

• Stages trays, cages, pallets, cartons, dollies, skids, cut material, folded material and waste containers as required.
• Manages chipboard on and off of dollies and skids.
• Empties waste containers in each process area.
• Separates and properly discards corrugated, printed material, miscellaneous garbage.
• Performs banding, stretch wrapping etc. of materials for shipment.
• Delivers shipments to various departments.
• Interfaces with truckers for outbound shipments, ensures all necessary documentation and samples are properly secured with outgoing shipments.
• Acts as a back-up for shipping, receiving and warehousing.
• Follows all standard operating procedures relevant to the job, position and department.
• Follows established policies, work instructions and safety and environmental guidelines.
• Records production information such as amount of time spent on specific tasks.
• Performs all assigned work effectively and on schedule.
• Follows instructions accurately.
• Keeps work area neat and clean.
• Performs all other job duties as assigned.
