Job summary

Mid-West Forging and Machining is seeking a Forge Die Reconditioning and Bench Technician to own the complete cycle of die/tooling prep from assembly to cleanup in a busy forging operation.

You will measure with micrometers, calipers, and gauges, recondition dies, inspect for cracks and dimensional accuracy, and read blueprints to ensure parts and dies meet specs. This on-site role requires physical stamina and strict PPE use.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• 1–3 months of related experience and/or training preferred.
• Satisfactory completion of Bennett Mechanical Comprehension Test.
• Hands-on skill with micrometers, calipers, and related measurement tools.
• Ability to read blueprints for parts, machines, and dies.

Responsibilities

• Own the complete cycle of die/tooling prep: assembly, reconditioning, benching, changeovers, and cleanup for upsetters.
• Use micrometers, calipers, steel gauge pins, and other gages to confirm specs; record measurements on required forms.
• Resurface and detail dies with powered drills, grinders, files, and related hand tools to achieve smooth finishes.
• Inspect dies for cracks, finish quality, and dimensional accuracy; measure die openings to verify compliance.
• Read and interpret blueprints for parts, machines, and dies.
