Job summary

Talent Wave seeks a skilled tooling and die maintenance technician to refurbish, maintain, repair, validate, and manage tooling components. Responsibilities include precision grinding, welding, heat treating, inspection, and inventory control to ensure production reliability.

Qualified candidates will demonstrate grinding and finishing experience, knowledge of inspection tools, and the ability to read drawings. Forklift license preferred; strong safety and 5S practices are required.

Qualifications

• Experience in grinding and finishing, and ability to read tool/die drawings.
• Proficiency with inspection tools and measuring equipment.
• Basic reading, writing, math, organizational, and computer skills.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to pass a job assessment test.
• Forklift license or ability to obtain one within employer requirements.

Responsibilities

• Utilize best practices for precision grinding and lapping die components.
• Operate manual and automatic surface grinders, wheel dressers, and polishing equipment.
• Perform welding repairs on tooling and die components.
• Perform heat-treat processes according to specifications.
• Inspect tooling using micrometers, calipers, microscopes, magnifiers, and other measuring equipment.
• Read and interpret tool and die drawings to determine component condition.
• Validate inbound tooling for dimensional accuracy and readiness for production use.
• Prepare tooling for outbound repair and service activities including documentation and packaging.
• Maintain refurbished tooling kits and establish new kits as required.
• Manage spare tool inventory and issue work orders to maintain minimum stock levels.
• Assist Tool and Die Makers as needed.
• Perform minor machine maintenance including lubrication and greasing.
• Maintain records of repairs, heat treat activity, validation, and inventory transactions with all current software applications.
• Maintain 5S standards and follow all safety requirements.
