Job summary

Consumers Energy is seeking an Associate Forester at our Kalamazoo service center to provide forestry services, including tree inventories, removal specifications, and vegetation management plan implementation. Ideal candidates will have a degree in forestry or related field and experience in risk assessment, inventory, and field reporting.

This onsite role supports storm restoration, client communication, and cross-department collaboration, with relocation assistance available for qualified

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in forestry, natural resources or related field.
• Associate's degree in forestry, natural resources or related field with a minimum of two (2) years of applicable experience.
• High school diploma with a minimum of four (4) years of applicable experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist with storm restoration efforts alongside non-company crews for both HVD and LVD systems.
• Interact with customers regarding internal and external concerns, ensuring all issues are brought to final resolution.
• Collaborate with other departments within CE to cross-train and learn various forestry best practices.
• Manage multiple assigned projects simultaneously, ensuring all deadlines are met and regularly reviewing project status with the Forestry Supervisor. Perform quality control checks on completed projects as directed.
• Conduct on-site visits to company assets located on customer properties to assess tree health, identify potential risks, and recommend solutions. Prepare detailed reports that outline findings and recommendations for each site.
• Serve as the primary contact for clients, providing expert consulting services related to tree risk assessment, tree inventory, tree valuation, and tree removal.
• Perform other duties as assigned or as necessary.
