Job summary

Idaho Department of Lands seeks a full-time Lands Resource Specialist – GNA for the Payette Lakes Office in McCall, ID. The role supports vegetation management and fuels reduction projects across Payette National Forest and BLM lands in south-central Idaho, working in a team to plan, implement, and administer field operations.

The position involves extensive fieldwork, GIS mapping, and contract administration; experience in forestry, timber sales, and management plans is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience communicating effectively in technical reports and presentations.
• Knowledge of state and federal natural resource laws and regulations.
• Ability to evaluate projects and data and make recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Prepares timber sale projects in the field including establishing boundaries, silvicultural prescriptions, logging design, and road systems.
• Timber marking and cruising and forest improvement project work (planting, burning, thinning).
• Prepare contractual packages and cost determinations for timber sales and improvements.
• Provide project documentation and GIS mapping; ensure compliance with policies and laws.
• May supervise seasonal personnel and participate in fire suppression and prescribed burns.
