Job summary

Idaho Forest Group is seeking a mid-level Forester to manage stewardship contracts and oversee timber procurement across federal and state lands. The role requires guiding procurement teams, administering complex contracts, and coordinating with Agency staff and contractors to integrate large projects into workflows.

The candidate should possess forestry knowledge, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently on diverse tasks, including budgeting and contract management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Forestry, Business or related field.
• Ability to apply independent decisions in varied situations.
• Technical knowledge of forest management, timber production and wood procurement.
• Ability to work with little supervision on individual projects.
• Familiarity with local and regional resource issues and their impacts.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences.
• Valid Driver's License with acceptable MVR for business travel.

Responsibilities

• Considers all aspects of timber sale purchases weighing purchases against costs, both fixed and variable.
• Coordinates with Division Foresters and Director of Forest Operations on procurement needs and cross-divisional coordination.
• Provides direct oversight for division Foresters on Stewardship sales and activities; coordinates sale appraisals and pre-sale cruises.
• Maintains fiscal oversight for fixed and variable costs; provides harvest scheduling coordination.
• Provides intermediary support to mid and upper-level Agency managers on significant operational issues; mentors as needed.
• Approves contractor invoicing and supports timber sale accounting requirements.
• Coordinates Mill Log Yard function and optimizes log flow.
• Negotiates outside sale/purchase agreements as needed.
• Maintains interdisciplinary contact with Agency Representatives and Industry groups.
• Performs Purchaser Representative/Forester duties on Agency sales when available.
• Other duties as needed.
