Job summary

The Florida Forest Service is seeking a skilled OPS Heavy Equipment Operator in Florida to maintain and construct forest roads on state lands.

This role requires operating heavy equipment, coordinating transport of equipment, and performing preventive maintenance; a Class A CDL with tanker endorsement must be obtained within six months.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Must obtain a Class A CDL with tanker endorsement within six months of appointment.
• Valid driver's license required for the position.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment for forest road construction and maintenance.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance and minor repairs on fleet equipment.
• Transport heavy equipment and materials statewide and to out-of-state destinations.
• Assist in maintenance of state forest recreation areas and road shoulders.
• Coordinate with teams to monitor road conditions and provide information to visitors.
