Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is seeking an Equipment Operator B for the Moshannon Forest District in Weedville, PA. You will operate heavy machinery and perform manual tasks to maintain forest facilities and support year‑round forest care.

Responsibilities include operating graders and backhoes, handling heavy vehicles, maintaining equipment, and assisting with fire prevention and forestry projects. Work hours are 6:00 AM–4:00 PM, Monday–Thursday, with no telework option.

Qualifications

• One year of experience as an Equipment Operator A (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
• Two years of experience in the operation of heavy construction and specialized maintenance equipment used at this level with a gross vehicle weight of 32,001 pounds or more; or
• Any equivalent combination of experience or training.

Responsibilities

• Operate graders, bulldozers, backhoes, and other specialized machinery for construction and maintenance work
• Drive heavy vehicles over 32,001 pounds for tasks such as hauling materials and supporting seasonal operations
• Complete manual labor and general upkeep of forest facilities and surrounding areas
• Perform repairs, preventative maintenance, and cleaning of assigned equipment
• Assist with fire prevention, controlled burns, and suppression activities as needed
• Support forestry programs involving tree removal, erosion control, surveying, and wildlife efforts
