Qualifications

• One year of Equipment Operator A experience or two years operating heavy equipment with GVW 32,001 lb+.
• Valid Class A CDL is required; PA residency must be met.
• Ability to perform essential job functions and comply with BMPs.
• Experience with road and trail construction and maintenance is a plus.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position operates heavy equipment to maintain roads, trails, and facilities throughout state forest land while also supporting wildfire response when necessary. As an Equipment Operator B, you will perform the following duties:

• Equipment Operation: Operate graders, bulldozers, loaders, and other heavy machinery for forest maintenance
• Maintenance Tasks: Perform manual labor and assist with skilled and unskilled maintenance work
• Road and Trail Work: Construct and maintain forest roads, parking areas, and recreational trails
• Wildfire Support: Assist with wildfire prevention, suppression, and emergency response
• Environmental Compliance: Follow erosion controls and best management practices during earthmoving activities
• Record Keeping: Maintain vehicle logs and complete reports for supervisor review

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position .
• Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

Required Experience, Training & Eligibility

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• One year of experience as an Equipment Operator A ( Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration) ; or
• Two years of experience in the operation of heavy construction and specialized maintenance equipment used at this level with a gross vehicle weight of 32,001 pounds or more; or
• Any equivalent combination of experience or training.

Special Requirement:

• This position requires possession of a valid Class C Pennsylvania driver's license.

Condition of Employment:

• This position requires possession of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).

Other Requirements:
