The Maine Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) seeks a Chemist III to supervise the Seized Drug Unit within the Forensic Chemistry Section in Augusta. The role combines technical leadership with day-to-day oversight of analytical operations in a state laboratory.

Qualified candidates hold a Bachelor's degree in chemistry or related field and have substantial analytical chemistry experience, with preferred supervision in an accredited lab and familiarity with GC/MS, FTIR, and LC/MS.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related laboratory science.
• Four years professional level experience in analytical chemistry; substitution allowed per policy.

Responsabilidades

• Oversee daily operations of the Seized Drug Unit.
• Ensure seized drug cases are completed on schedule.
• Coordinate with law enforcement and legal partners on rush cases and court dates.
• Receive training in testing methods and apply knowledge to analysis.
• Participate in proficiency testing and internal audits.
• Conduct technical reviews of seized drug cases.
• Testify in court as required.
• Train and mentor new analysts.
• Lead validations of new instruments and methods.
