Job summary

The Alaska Department of Health is seeking a chemist to join the Anchorage State Public Health Laboratory. You will work on high-complexity testing and instrument platforms to support public health missions for Alaskans.

Responsibilities include developing proficiency with GC-MS, GC-MS/MS, ICP-MS, and LC-MS/MS, performing testing for clinical partners and the LRNC program, and collaborating on method development while coordinating with partners for emergency preparedness exercises.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or closely related science.
• CLIA-related testing qualifications required.
• Education and experience satisfying CLIA high/mid complexity standards are necessary.

Responsibilities

• Develop competency with GC-MS, GC-MS/MS, ICP-MS, LC-MS/MS instruments for public health testing.
• Perform testing for clinical partners and the Laboratory Response Network for Chemical Threats program.
• Collaborate to develop and improve testing methods for public health agents.
• Coordinate with local/state/federal partners for emergency preparedness exercises and live events.
