Job summary

Valley Springs Behavioral Health Hospital in Holyoke, MA is seeking an Occupational Therapist for the Forensic Unit on the Mountain View 4th floor. This full-time days role runs Monday–Friday, 7am–3:30pm, in a 150-bed inpatient facility.

You will assess patients’ ability to perform skills, design and implement treatment plans, supervise assistants, document progress, educate patients and families, and assist with discharge and adaptive equipment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy required.
• Massachusetts OT license required before practicing.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient's ability to perform occupational skills.
• Design the plan of care, including type and frequency of treatment.
• Implement the treatment plan using appropriate modalities.
• Document subjective and objective findings of patient progress.
• Monitors and modifies the plan of care as needed. Seeks consultation as necessary.
• Educates the patient and family/caregiver about patient deficits.
• Plans and/or assists with patient discharge from therapy services and treatment setting.
• Provides information regarding appropriate selection/use of adaptive equipment and support programs.
• Supervises and delegates the care provided by certified occupational therapy assistants and therapy technicians according to established licensing laws, state regulations and practice standards.
