Job summary

Valley Springs Behavioral Health Hospital in Holyoke, MA is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Forensic Unit to deliver compassionate, trauma-informed care in a secure inpatient setting. This role emphasizes teamwork, patient safety, and evidence-based practices to support recovery.

You will assess and plan patient care, administer medications per orders, document in the EMR, and collaborate with psychiatrists, physicians, therapists, and social workers to optimize outcomes and overall

Qualifications

• Active Massachusetts RN license required.
• ADN required; BSN preferred.
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
• Behavioral health/forensic nursing experience preferred.
• Strong assessment, communication, and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to manage challenging patient behaviors in a therapeutic manner.
• Experience with crisis intervention and de-escalation preferred.
• Commitment to patient-centered and trauma-informed care.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
• Monitor patients' physical and behavioral health status and respond to changes.
• Administer medications and treatments per physician orders and policies.
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, physicians, therapists, and team members.
• Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record.
• Support a safe environment through de-escalation and crisis intervention.
• Participate in treatment team meetings and discharge planning.
• Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans and goals.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies and safety initiatives.
• Serve as a patient advocate while promoting recovery-oriented care.
