Job summary

Valley Springs Behavioral Health Hospital, operated with Lifepoint Behavioral Health and Baystate Health, seeks an Occupational Therapist for the Forensic Unit in Holyoke, MA. Full-time days, 7am–3:30pm, with a structured plan of care and discharge planning.

You will supervise OT assistants, educate patients and families, and contribute to evidence-based treatments in a 150-bed facility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy required.
• Massachusetts OT license required before practicing.
• BLS within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assesses patient's ability to safely and effectively perform occupational skills.
• Designs the appropriate plan of care, including type and frequency of treatment.
• Implements the treatment plan using appropriate modalities.
• Documents subjective and objective findings of patient progress.
• Monitors and modifies the plan of care as needed; seeks consultation as necessary.
• Educates the patient and family/caregiver about patient deficits.
• Plans and/or assists with patient discharge from therapy services and treatment setting.
• Provides information regarding adaptive equipment and support programs.
• Supervises and delegates OT assistants and technicians as per regulations.
