Job summary

Texas Health Resources is seeking an RN Nurse Trainee for Forensic Health in a PRN, travel-based role. The position focuses on mobile forensic exams for adolescents and adults, with training toward SANE certification and ongoing education in trauma-informed care.

You will work under a preceptor, perform detailed exams, document findings, and assist with related administrative tasks across multiple Texas Health sites. Travel is required.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in Nursing required.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience.
• RN license required at hire.
• BCLS certification required prior to independent patient care and updated quarterly.
• CA-SANE certification (adult/adolescent) within 12 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide medical forensic exams for adolescent and adult populations as part of a mobile Sexual Assault Unit.
• Perform trauma-informed assessments, document findings, and collect evidence.
• Travel across Texas Health entities to support the SANE program.
• Receive guidance from a preceptor and work toward Pediatric/Adult SANE certification.
• Assist with administrative duties when not at the bedside.
• Educate staff, patients, and stakeholders about sexual violence.
