Job summary

DHR Health in Edinburg, TX is seeking an RN Forensic Nurse Examiner to provide skilled forensic nursing care in the ED and forensic services. The role requires SANE certification or active enrollment, multiple certifications, and the ability to work in a fast-paced trauma environment.

Responsibilities include evidence collection, documentation, and testimony in court. Flexibility for on-call shifts and travel within the ED are expected. Excellent communication and confidentiality are essential.

Qualifications

• One to two years ER experience preferred.
• Current Texas RN license required.
• CP/CA SANE certification or enrollment in Texas SANE program required.
• Must obtain SANE certification within 6 months of hire.
• ACLS and PALS certification within 12 months of hire, TNCC within 18 months recommended.

Responsibilities

• Provide trauma-informed forensic nursing care for sexual assault victims.
• Perform comprehensive forensic examinations including evidence collection and documentation.
• Maintain chain of custody for all evidence and comply with protocols.
• Rotate shifts, including weekends, nights, and on-call coverage as needed.
• Communicate clearly with law enforcement, medical staff, and legal representatives.
• Testify in court and coordinate with attorneys during judicial processes.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and professional standards.
