Job summary

Rimkus Consulting Group, Inc. seeks a seasoned mechanical/forensic engineer to lead investigations, perform analyses, and prepare expert reports for complex cases.

Requirements include a B.S. in Mechanical or Agricultural Engineering, a completed FE exam, and PE licensure (or plans to obtain within one year) with 5+ years of experience and up to 25% travel. You will manage projects and communicate findings to clients with clarity.

Qualifications

• B.S. Mechanical or Agricultural Engineering from an accredited program.
• F.E. exam completed and PE licensure or within one year.
• Minimum 5 years of experience with machinery and equipment.
• Advanced degrees are highly valued.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
• Willingness to travel up to 25% for site inspections.

Responsibilities

• Perform forensic assignments within mechanical engineering scope and budget.
• Investigate incident causes and determine mechanical failure sources.
• Inspect sites and equipment; perform analyses and prepare sketches.
• Produce oral and written reports documenting findings and remediation.
• Provide expert opinions and testify as needed in deposition/trial.
• Manage multiple projects and coordinate with other experts.
• Apply industry standards and safety knowledge to cases.
