Job summary

Sea Island Company is seeking a mechanical engineer with a strong CAD background to join our forensic engineering team. You will conduct field investigations, create CAD layouts and 3D models, and perform analyses to support safety and design recommendations.

The role requires clear communication, active learning, and the ability to travel to site locations. Prior forensic experience is preferred, with potential PE certification pursued within 24 months.

Qualifications

  • B.S in Mechanical Engineering is required.
  • E.I.T. certification is preferred.
  • Ability to obtain P.E. registration through testing within 24 months.
  • Background in NHTSA, Forensic, Racing, Vehicle Safety, or Manufacturing is a plus.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct field investigations and perform failure/accident analysis on incidents involving vehicles and mechanical equipment.
  • Create CAD layouts, diagrams, graphics, 2D drawings and 3D models.
  • Perform camera matching and video analysis with simulation software.
  • Perform engineering calculations, analyses, and simulations and prepare technical reports.
  • Investigate design, safety and failure of machinery and mechanical systems.
  • Provide clear findings in writing and verbally to lay audiences.
