Job summary

The Ohio Attorney General’s Office is seeking an experienced Evidence Intake Technician in London, OH, working full-time from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The role supports the Bureau of Criminal Investigation with evidence intake, custody, and documentation in a state crime lab environment. Ideal candidates have clerical and data entry skills, attention to detail, and confidentiality, with experience in forensic or legal settings.

Qualifications

• Formal education in arithmetic including fractions, decimals and percentages.
• 12 months experience working in a forensic laboratory, biology, medical office laboratory or chemistry laboratory, law enforcement agency or legal environment.
• 6 months training or experience in inventory control (receiving, storing and dispensing materials).

Responsibilities

• Processes and preserves evidence and property submissions, ensuring chain of custody and integrity.
• Uses laboratory information management system to document evidence intake and updates.
• Reviews requests for destruction of evidence and ensures proper disposal and record-keeping.
• Acts as liaison with courts and prosecutor offices to respond to inquiries about evidence results and procedures.
• Testifies before courts concerning evidence integrity and custody.
