Job summary

The Ohio Attorney General's Office in London, OH is seeking a Crime Scene Technician for the Bureau of Criminal Investigation. This role is largely remote with possible in-person training, serving Ohio’s law enforcement needs 24/7.

The successful candidate will investigate crime scenes, preserve evidence, and testify in court when required. Must relocate within 90 days to Ross, Pike, Scioto, Adams, Highland, Jackson, Vinton, Gallia, Fayette, or Pickaway counties.

Qualifications

  • Completion of bachelor’s degree in forensic science or in a field related to crime scene investigation; 2 years of experience in crime scene investigation; valid driver’s license.
  • Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.

Responsibilities

  • Distinguishes the full range of the color spectrum to examine and investigate crime scenes and preserve evidence.
  • Interviews to gain relevant information and enters detailed information into a report writing program.
  • Drives to crime scenes using a state issued vehicle and may testify in court when required.
  • Recovers, transports, and impounds evidence including firearms and body fluids with safety precautions.
  • Performs specialized field duties such as photographing scenes, casting impressions and lifting fingerprints.
  • Operates equipment to determine the presence of trace evidence and completes proficiency/compliance testing.
