Job summary

DHR Health in Edinburg, TX seeks an RN Forensic Nurse Examiner (PRN) to provide trauma-informed forensic care in the ED and SAFE exam settings. You will perform forensic exams, collect and document evidence, and collaborate with law enforcement while maintaining chain-of-custody and patient confidentiality.

The role requires TX RN licensure, SANE CP/CA certification or enrollment, and timely completion of ACLS/PALS and TNCC as outlined.

Qualifications

Texas RN license required.
Graduation from an accredited nursing program required.
Current SANE CP/CA certification or enrollment in Texas SANE/Forensic program required.
Must obtain SANE certification within 6 months of hire.
ACLS and PALS certifications within 12 months of hire.
TNCC within 18 months of hire (recommended).
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Cultural sensitivity; travel may be required.

Responsibilities

Provide independent forensic nursing care to victims in the ED and forensic unit.
Perform complete physical and forensic examinations, including evidence collection and chain of custody.
Rotate shifts including nights, weekends, and on-call duties as department needs.
Coordinate with Forensic Nurse Manager and attorneys during judicial processes.
Maintain unit readiness and ensure equipment and supplies are stocked and safe.
