Qualifications

• High school/GED; nursing degree from accredited program
• Current TX RN license
• SANE Certification CP/CA or enrollment in SANE program
• SANE certification within 6 months of hire
• ACLS and PALS certification within 12 months
• TNCC within 18 months (recommended)
• Ability to read/write/speak English
• Willingness to travel; valid driver's license and insurance

Responsibilities

• Provide independent trauma-informed forensic nursing care to sexual assault victims in ED
• Perform comprehensive forensic exams including evidence collection and documentation
• Maintain chain of custody and proper handling of forensic specimens
• Complete documentation within 24 hours and coordinate with legal process
• Support and communicate with Forensic Nurse Manager; respond to questions pre/post shift
• Adhere to hospital policies and patient confidentiality; demonstrate cultural sensitivity
