Job summary

ReDiscover, a mission-driven non-profit in Missouri, seeks a Forensic Competency Restoration Provider to join the Diversion & Intervention Services team. You will coordinate services for individuals with mental health or substance use challenges in collaboration with law enforcement, courts, and community providers.

Responsibilities include competency restoration, case management, and seamless communication with partners to reduce court involvement and promote continuity of care for clients

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a social science related discipline as defined by the Missouri Department of Mental Health.
• Minimum two years of case management related experience.
• Valid automobile driver's license and reliable vehicle.
• Ability to work in secure environment and abide by JCDC rules.
• Working knowledge of assessment and treatment of behavioral health conditions.
• Excellent customer service with a recovery focus.
• Strong written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
• Proficiency in typing and use of email.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain collaborative relationships with defendants, JCDC staff and leadership, courts, judges, law enforcement, prosecutors, public defenders, and community-based treatment providers.
• Provide competency restoration and behavioral health services using evidence-based practices for defendants designated as Incompetent to Proceed.
• Coordinate services and maintain ongoing communication with the Forensic Mobile Team and Jail Service Providers.
• Connect individuals with resources upon release and provide case management to promote continuity of care.
• Participate in meetings, trainings, webinars, and professional development related to forensic behavioral health services.
• Attend meetings to support coordination between the Department of Mental Health and Jackson County Detention Center.

About The Diversion & Intervention Services Program

The Diversion & Intervention Services team partners with law enforcement and courts to equip professionals with the tools, education, and strategies to respond effectively to individuals experiencing mental health challenges. Our work helps prevent unnecessary arrests, court involvement, and hospitalizations while connecting individuals to appropriate care.

What You'll Do

• Build and maintain collaborative relationships with defendants, JCDC staff and leadership, courts, judges, law enforcement, prosecutors, public defenders, and community-based treatment providers.
• Provide competency restoration and behavioral health services using evidence-based practices to defendants committed to the Department of Mental Health as Incompetent to Proceed.
• Coordinate services and maintain ongoing communication with the Forensic Mobile Team, Jail Service Providers, and other community partners.
• Connect individuals with appropriate resources and services upon release from the county jail and provide case management support to promote continuity of care.
• Participate in meetings, trainings, conference calls, webinars, and professional development opportunities related to forensic behavioral health services.
• Attend meetings and collaborate with the Department of Mental Health and Jackson County Detention Center to support effective coordination of services.

Requirements Of The Position

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in a Social Science related discipline as defined by the Missouri Department of Mental Health.
• At least two (2) years of case management related experience required.
• A valid automobile driver's license, appropriate automobile insurance and a safe, reliable, registered automobile available for use during work is required.
• Ability to work in a secure environment and to abide by the rules and regulations of the JCDC is required.
• Working knowledge of assessment and treatment of behavioral health conditions.
• Excellent customer service skills with a recovery focus
• Strong written, oral and interpersonal communication skills
• Intermediate computer skills in typing/keyboarding, Microsoft Word and Excel programs as well as use of email.
