Job summary

ReDiscover in Lee’s Summit, MO seeks a Youth Behavioral Health Liaison to connect youth with co-occurring mental health and substance use services and support families.

You will partner with schools, courts and community agencies, participate with crisis teams, maintain EMR documentation, and help coordinate care across the Diversion & Intervention Services Department.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Minimum of two years of experience working with youth with mental health or substance use disorders.
• Driver’s license with reliable vehicle for work.
• Flexible hours including evenings.
• Strong knowledge of mental illness and substance use disorders.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Proficient with MS Word, Excel and email.

Responsibilities

• Connect youth with co-occurring mental health, substance use, and developmental needs to appropriate services.
• Build partnerships with schools, courts and community agencies to improve youth outcomes.
• Support diversion from hospitalization and detention through community-based care.
• Collaborate with crisis intervention teams to assess and coordinate care for youth in crisis.
• Monitor client needs and provide education on symptom management.
• Facilitate a monthly evening recovery group through Lee’s Summit Youth Court.
• Maintain accurate documentation in the EMR system.
• Coordinate care with internal teams to support client wellness.

Our work helps prevent unnecessary arrests, court cases, and hospitalizations—empowering both professionals and the people they serve.What You’ll DoConnect youth with co-occurring mental health, substance use, and/or developmental needs to appropriate community-based services.Build and strengthen partnerships across behavioral health providers, schools, courts, and community agencies to improve youth outcomes.Support diversion from hospitalization, detention, and residential placements by promoting family- and community-based care.Collaborate with crisis intervention teams, including ACI and law enforcement, to assess and coordinate care for youth in crisis.Monitor client needs, respond to symptom escalation, and provide education on symptom management.Facilitate a monthly evening recovery group through Lee’s Summit Youth Court.Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record system.Partner with internal multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care and support overall client wellness.Requirements of the PositionBachelor’s Degree in a Social Science-related field.Must meet the Missouri Department of Mental Health criteria for Community Support Specialist.Minimum of two (2) years of experience working with youth with mental health disorders, substance use disorders, or developmental disabilities.A valid automobile driver’s license, appropriate automobile insurance, and a safe, reliable, registered automobile available for use during work.Flexible hours, to include evening availability to meet the needs of clients is required.Working knowledge of mental illness and substance use disorders.Excellent customer service skills with a recovery focus.Strong written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.Intermediate computer skills in typing/keyboarding, Microsoft Word and Excel programs as well as email.Grow With UsWe’re committed to your professional development and will support your growth as a Youth Behavioral Health Liaison through training, collaboration, and meaningful work.Ready to join a team that’s passionate about people?
