Job summary

Newport News Shipbuilding, a division of Huntington Ingalls Industries, is seeking a Foreman Craft Instructor in Newport News, VA. The role oversees trades personnel, develops training plans and ensures adherence to procedures to improve quality and productivity on the shop floor.

The position includes a $5,000 sign-on bonus and requires a Bachelor's degree or apprenticeship credential, with strong leadership and multitasking abilities to manage 12-15 apprentices.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or Apprenticeship credential or High School with 4 years combined manufacturing, shipbuilding, trades or military experience.
Apprentice School O43 Millwright graduate is preferred; strong supervision and communication skills required.
Ability to supervise 12-15 apprentices and manage documentation and scheduling.

Responsibilities

Supervises, assigns, coordinates and evaluates semi-skilled and skilled trades personnel.
Trains employees and develops training procedures; ensures adherence to drawings and procedures.
Manages training, documentation, and leads in shop-floor safety and quality for production operations.
