Job summary

Davey Tree Surgery Co. is seeking a utility foreperson/foreman to lead a 2-5 person crew in outdoor tree pruning and removal for major electric utilities. Your office is outdoors, and you’ll gain a new view with each day’s work, focusing on safety and efficiency.

You will mentor crew members, operate a range of tools and equipment, and have opportunities for advancement through union wage progression and ongoing training. Travel and overtime may be involved as needed.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors.
• Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire.
• Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire.
• Line clearance experience or other related tree work.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Commercial Driver’s License (Class A or B) preferred without air brake restriction.
• Pesticide licenses/certificates may be required by state law.
• ISA Certified Arborist®, ISA Certified Tree Worker®, and/or TCIA Certified Tree Care Safety Professional® preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead a 2-5 person tree crew in pruning and removal for utilities, safely and skillfully.
• Pruning treetops, trimming/removal of damaged trees, and removing limbs from lines/structures.
• Apply tree identification knowledge and pruning guidelines.
• Conduct job-site planning, inspections, and execute tasks.
• Maintain and operate tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts.
• Mentor and train new employees.

Job Duties

What You’ll Do:

• Lead a 2-5 person tree crew in performing all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for major electric utility providers. Including but not limited to:
• Pruning treetops, repairing damaged trees by trimming or removal
• Removing broken limbs from utility lines, roofs, and other objects
• Application of tree identification knowledge and industry pruning guidelines
• Perform job-site inspections with proper planning and execution of assigned work and tasks
• Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including, chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more
• Mentor and train new employees

• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire
