Job summary

Davey Tree Surgery Co. is seeking a utility foreperson/foreman to lead a 2-5 person crew in pruning and removal for major electric utilities. The role is on site, outdoors, with travel possible.

You will manage job sites, ensure safety, and mentor junior crew members. Ideal candidates will have line clearance experience, manual climbing ability, a valid driver’s license, and completion of Davey Tree Orientation, First Aid/CPR, and defensive driving courses.

Qualifications

• Experience in line clearance or other related tree work.
• Must know how to manually climb and have climbing experience.
• Valid driver’s license is required.
• Complete Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire.
• Complete Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Lead a 2-5 person tree crew in pruning and removal for major electric utility providers.
• Prune treetops and repair damaged trees by trimming or removal.
• Remove broken limbs from utility lines, roofs and other objects.
• Apply tree identification knowledge and pruning guidelines.
• Perform job-site inspections with proper planning and execution.
• Maintain, prepare and operate tools and equipment (chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts).
• Mentor and train new employees.

Sign on bonus of $1,500.00 depending on skills and experience.

Job Duties

What You’ll Do:

• Lead a 2-5 person tree crew in performing all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for major electric utility providers. Including but not limited to:
• Pruning treetops, repairing damaged trees by trimming or removal
• Removing broken limbs from utility lines, roofs, and other objects
• Application of tree identification knowledge and industry pruning guidelines
• Perform job-site inspections with proper planning and execution of assigned work and tasks
• Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including, chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more
• Mentor and train new employees

Qualifications

What We’re Seeking:

• Love of the outdoors
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire
• Required: line clearance experience or other related tree work
• Required: Must know how to manually climb and have climbing experience
• Required: Valid driver’s license
• Preferred: Commercial Driver’s License-Class A or B without air brake restriction
• Preferred: Relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law

Preferred: ISA Certified Arborist®, ISA Certified Tree Worker®, and/or TCIA Certified Tree Care Safety Professional®
