Job summary

Davey Tree Surgery, a Davey Company, is seeking a dynamic utility foreperson to lead a 2-5 person crew for electric utility pruning and removal. The role is outdoor, with daily field variety and emphasis on safety and craftsmanship.

You’ll oversee job planning, operate and maintain tools, and mentor teammates while delivering high-quality line clearance services for major utilities in Silver City, NM. The position is full-time, on-site.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in utility line clearance tree trimming.
• Line clearance experience or other related tree work.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Preferred: CDL-Class A or B without air brake restriction.
• Preferred: ISA/TCIA certifications if required by state law.
• Ability to complete orientation and safety training on hire.

Responsibilities

• Lead a 2-5 person tree crew in pruning and removal for electric utility providers.
• Prune treetops and remove damaged trees as needed.
• Remove broken limbs from utility lines, roofs, and other objects.
• Apply tree identification knowledge and pruning guidelines.
• Perform job-site inspections with planning and execution of tasks.
• Maintain, prepare and operate tools and equipment.
• Mentor and train new employees.

Job Duties

What You’ll Do:

• Lead a 2-5 person tree crew in performing all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for major electric utility providers. Including but not limited to:
• Pruning treetops, repairing damaged trees by trimming or removal
• Removing broken limbs from utility lines, roofs, and other objects
• Application of tree identification knowledge and industry pruning guidelines
• Perform job-site inspections with proper planning and execution of assigned work and tasks
• Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including, chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more
• Mentor and train new employees

Qualifications

What We’re Seeking:

• Love of the outdoors
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire
• Required: Two years of experience in utility line clearance tree trimming
• Required: Line clearance experience or other related tree work
• Required: Valid driver’s license
• Preferred: Commercial Driver’s License-Class A or B without air brake restriction
• Preferred: Relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law
• Preferred: ISA Certified Arborist®, ISA Certified Tree Worker®, and/or TCIA Certified Tree Care Safety Professional®
