Job summary

Sports Basement is seeking a Staffer to lead a department on the sales floor in San Francisco. You will work with management to meet daily expectations, uplift staff morale, and deliver WOW customer service while maintaining brand standards.

The role emphasizes teamwork, zone ownership, and active engagement with customers about outdoor gear and experiences. You will help with task delegation, staff guidance, and collaboration with merchandising to ensure clean, organized zones and compelling

Qualifications

• Previous retail or industry experience. A desire to grow into a leadership role.
• Passionate sports or outdoor enthusiast is a plus.
• Ability to create a WOW experience for every customer.
• Strong verbal and written communication with customers and staff.
• Basic computer skills
• Flexibility and adaptability as your role day to day might change.
• Must be able to lift 40 pounds, bend down repeatedly, and stand for the majority of a shift.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment
• Time management and problem-solving skills
• Internal Candidates: Awareness of business tools including Google Docs, Shopify, POS systems, Winterstieger, Sales Saver, Lightspeed and Fiori (training available).
• Available to work during operating hours including most weekdays, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Lead with the Lead and Management team to ensure day-to-day operations are met.
• Uplift staff morale and provide WOW customer service on the sales floor.
• Delegate tasks and follow through on projects within the zone/department.
• Serve as a role model and champion Sports Basement values.
• Ensure department displays are engaging and merchandised efficiently.
• Communicate clearly with staff and managers about goals and priorities.
