Job summary

Eckerd Connects is recruiting a Food Service Worker to assist in meal service and food preparation at the Potomac Job Corps location in Washington, DC. The role emphasizes cleanliness, safety, and teamwork within a school-food service setting.

The position is hourly and on-call up to 29 hours per week, with benefits including heath insurance, paid time off, and eligibility for PSLF. A high school diploma and ServSafe certification are preferred.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Three to six months' food preparation training and related food service work experience preferred.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain ServSafe food safety certification.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record preferred.
  • Required to pass a drug screen in compliance with our Substance Abuse and Drug-Free Workplace policy.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain good housekeeping in kitchen and dining areas.
  • Assist in serving and preparation of food.
  • Assist cook in preparation of food and monitoring stockroom commodities.
  • Assist in serving food and beverages or salads and dressings.
  • Clean and sanitize kitchen area, equipment and floors.
  • Operate dish-washing equipment to ensure cleanliness of dishes and utensils.
  • Ensure work area is safe, clean, and sanitary.

Service Contract Act (SCA) Position

Hourly Rate: $17.50

On-Call up to 29 hours/week

Duties and Responsibilities
  • The Food Service Worker reports to the Food Service Supervisor or designee and is an hourly, non-exempt position.
  • The Food Service Worker responsible for maintaining good housekeeping in the kitchen and dining areas. In addition, assists in the serving and preparation of food.
  • The Food Service Worker assists the cook in the preparation of food, number of students expected, and monitoring stockroom commodities.
  • Assists in serving food; may make coffee, tea and other beverages or salads and salad dressings.
  • Cleans food service area, tables and kitchen equipment and appliances, and ensures proper floor care.
  • Operates dish-washing equipment to ensure dishes and utensils are cleaned and sanitized.
  • Cleans and checks kitchen service equipment, and ensures work area is safe, clean, and sanitary.
  • Replenish napkin dispensers, plate and silverware racks, fills salt and pepper shakers, condiments, etc.
