Position Overview

This is a second-level food service position, responsible for preparing and cooking complex menu items under general supervision in a treatment program for youth in Missouri.

Responsibilities

1. Prepare major meals in a large institutional kitchen.
2. Assist in meal preparation, measuring ingredients, monitoring temperatures, and using kitchen equipment properly.
3. Requisition supplies, ensure food quality, maintain inventory, and conduct monthly stock checks.
4. Develop menus that meet nutritional guidelines.
5. Complete reports and correspondence accurately and timely.
6. Maintain safety and sanitation standards, supervise cleaning of utensils and work areas.
7. Lift and carry large portions of food and ingredients.
8. Ensure proper storage, timely use of food items, and stock rotation.
9. Work long hours standing in a hot kitchen environment.
10. Participate in supervising kitchen and food service area cleaning.
11. Supervise youth and helpers in food preparation and sanitation.
12. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of kitchen procedures, sanitation, ability to prepare complex menu items, and operate automated systems. Experience as a Food Service Assistant or related work experience is required. Educational substitutions are possible.
